Best Flavored Easy Lemon Iced Green Tea Recipe

Serves 1

  • 12 ounces fresh, cold water
  • 1 spiced green tea bag (such as Bigelow “Constant Comment” ® Green Tea)
  • Enough ice cubes to fill a 16-ounce glass tumbler
  • ½ fresh lemon, sliced into rounds
  • Mint sprigs for garnish, if desired

Directions

  1. Bring water close to a boil, using either an electric kettle or a traditional kettle on the stovetop.
  2. Pour near-boiling water over the tea bag in a 12-ounce mug. Let the tea steep for three to five minutes, and then remove the tea bag. If the tea isn’t needed immediately, let it sit and cool for up to half an hour.
  3. Place a lemon round in the bottom of the glass tumbler. Add ice to fill the tumbler halfway, and then add one or two more lemon rounds. Add more ice to fill tumbler close to the top, and then add one or two more lemon rounds.
  4. Carefully pour the cooled tea over the ice, preferably over a sink in case of any small drips or spills. If the tea is still hot, use extreme caution and care in pouring the tea into the tumbler so as not to burn hands.
  5. Add additional ice if necessary, especially if the tea melts ice cubes quickly.
  6. Garnish with mint sprigs, if desired, and serve.
  7. Before drinking, squeeze some of the top lemons into the tea for additional flavor and health benefits (see below for details). Continue squeezing lemons into the green tea to taste, as desired, as tea is consumed.
